How to Order Custom DTF Transfers for B2B Apparel Decoration
Custom DTF transfers provide a flexible way for apparel decorators, merchandise suppliers, clubs, teams and other B2B buyers to prepare custom graphics for T-shirts and other suitable apparel projects.
A smooth DTF order usually starts with three basic pieces of information:
- your artwork or design requirements;
- the required transfer dimensions;
- the expected production quantity.
From there, the artwork and project requirements can be reviewed before sample preparation and bulk production.
1. Prepare Your Artwork
The first step is to prepare the artwork you want to use for your DTF transfers.
This may include:
- logos;
- front chest graphics;
- large back graphics;
- branded artwork;
- club or team designs;
- promotional graphics;
- destination or themed artwork.
If your project uses more than one artwork position, such as a small logo on the front of a T-shirt and a larger graphic on the back, provide both designs when requesting a quotation.
Exact artwork requirements can be reviewed according to the individual project. If you are unsure whether your existing artwork is suitable for production, send the files you currently have together with your project requirements for evaluation.
2. Confirm Transfer Dimensions and Artwork Placement
Transfer dimensions are important because different apparel positions normally require different artwork sizes.
For example, one project may use:
- a smaller front chest transfer;
- a larger back transfer;
- another graphic in a different garment position.
There is no single standard transfer size that applies to every project.
Before requesting a quotation, confirm the intended placement of each design and provide the required dimensions where possible. This helps the supplier evaluate the artwork layout and production requirements more accurately.
For projects using multiple artwork positions, the different transfers can be reviewed as part of the same B2B apparel-decoration project.
3. Confirm Your Required Production Quantity
Custom DTF transfers can be produced with flexible design quantities.
Individual designs can be produced from 1 pc/design, allowing buyers to prepare different graphics or test designs before larger production requirements.
For B2B projects, however, the overall production quantity should still be discussed according to the actual order requirement rather than treating the service as single-transfer retail purchasing.
Bulk production lead time depends on order volume.
As a general production reference:
- several hundred meters can typically be produced in approximately 1 working day after sample approval;
- an order of approximately 4,000 meters typically takes around 1 week.
Actual production planning should be confirmed according to the final project volume.
4. Review the Sample Before Bulk Production
Sample preparation allows the artwork and transfer result to be reviewed before larger-scale production when sample approval is required for the project.
For custom DTF transfers:
- sample quantity is prepared according to customer requirements;
- standard sample lead time is 2 days.
After the sample is reviewed and approved, bulk production can proceed according to the confirmed project requirements.
This step is particularly useful when a project includes new artwork, multiple design positions or larger production quantities.
5. Understand the DTF Production Method
Chuzhong Craft completes DTF printing production in-house.
The main DTF production process includes:
- digital DTF printing;
- hot-melt adhesive powder application;
- curing.
The main materials used are:
- PET DTF transfer film;
- DTF inks;
- hot-melt adhesive powder.
The production film width is 60 cm, with an effective printing width of 58 cm.
Chuzhong Craft uses a 12-head digital DTF printer equipped with Epson I3200 printheads for DTF production.
The finished transfers use a Cold Peel process and require a heat press for application.
Specific heat-press temperature, pressing time and pressure settings should be confirmed according to the actual project rather than assumed from a general guide.
6. What Buyers Should Prepare Before Production
Before sending a DTF inquiry, preparing the following information can make quotation and production review more efficient:
- artwork or design files;
- required transfer dimensions;
- intended artwork placement, such as front or back;
- required quantity or estimated production volume;
- sample requirements;
- expected delivery timing;
- any other project-specific requirements.
If a project includes multiple designs, list the quantity and dimensions required for each design where possible.
Providing this information at the beginning helps reduce unnecessary back-and-forth and allows the project to be evaluated more accurately.

7. Request a B2B DTF Transfer Quote
For a custom DTF transfer quotation, send your artwork together with the required transfer dimensions and production volume.
Projects may include individual graphics, front-and-back apparel designs, club or team artwork, branded merchandise graphics and other custom apparel-decoration requirements.
